Converting Lofts and Attics County Wicklow
Loft conversions in County Wicklow transform unused roof space into a fully functional room, whether that is a bedroom, home office or en-suite, with the scope of work depending on your existing roof type.
It is one of the most popular types of work we are asked to carry out, and we would love to help you make the most of your home. We take care of everything, from the initial preparation and scaffolding through to carpentry, roofing where needed, and the full interior fit-out including flooring, plasterboarding, plumbing and electrics.
The main types of loft conversions are:
- Dormer – a structural box that projects outward from the roof slope to create full-height headroom and additional window space
- Hip-to-Gable – converting a sloping hipped end into a vertical gable wall to increase usable volume, common on semi-detached and end-of-terrace properties
- Mansard – reconstructing one or both roof slopes to a near-vertical angle with a flat roof above, providing maximum space and often requiring planning permission
- Velux / rooflight – retaining the existing roofline and installing windows directly into the slope where sufficient headroom is already present
- L-shaped – joining a main rear dormer with a second dormer over the rear outrigger, typically suited to period terraced houses
Regardless of the type chosen, the work generally includes structural roof alterations, new floor joists, staircase installation, insulation in line with current building regulations, and a complete internal fit-out.
Alongside our loft converting services in County Wicklow, we also offer interior remodeling, rendering and plastering, structural wall work and a range of other services.
